The Fleet Feet Aquathon Series is comprised of five Thursday night races held at Warner Park Beach in Madison throughout the summer. Each event consists of a 1000 meter swim followed by a 5000 meter run. Perfect for mid-week training with a bonus of chip timing and series prizes for the top 3 finishers in each age group! 

When and Where:

Warner Park Beach - Once a month (two in July) on Thursday evenings from May through August - see dates above.

Weather Policy:

In the case of inclement weather, the Race Director will make the race time decision to delay or cancel the event. We will make every effort to hold the race on the scheduled date. If necessary, the distances of the swim and/or run may be modified based on conditions and safety. In the case of cancelation we will make every effort possible to reschedule the event at a later date (subject to park availability). If an event is canceled, please check this website for rescheduling information. If severe weather is predicted we will announce cancelation of the event on this website, the Fleet Feet website, and if possible, via email.

If circumstances require event cancelation, no refunds will be given.

Registration:

Participants may register online at Active.com, or in person prior to the event at Warner Park  beginning at 6:00pm. You may also print the registration form and drop it off or mail it to Fleet Feet. All races will start at 7:00pm.

Cost:

  • Individual: $15.00 per Event or $65.00 for Entire Series ( Series Registration includes a Technical T-shirt).

  • Relay: $20.00 per Event (Relays are two people – #1 Swim and #2 Run.)

****Add $5.00 to the above costs for race day registration.****

Course:

The 1000 meter swim starts at Warner Park Beach with a mass start. The course is triangular with turns marked by two buoys. The transition area is located to the southeast of the beach and beach house.  The start to the 5k is at the south end of transition, near the entrance to the beach parking lot. The 5k course follows Woodward Avenue to Sheridan Drive. Runners enter Warner Park where it follows the paved path through the park and back to the finish south of the beach house. 

Series Scoring:

Scoring is based on finish place. 1st place = 100 pts, 2nd place = 99 pts, etc. Fifteenth place is 85 pts. If you do not compete in an event, zero points are awarded. The final series score is based on the best 4 finishes out of the 5 events.

  •  Top Three Male 30 - 39

  •  Top Three Female 30 - 39

  •  Top Three Male 40 - 49

  •  Top Three Female 40 - 49

  •  Top Three Male 50 - 59

  •  Top Three Female 50 - 59

  •  Top Three Male 60 & Over (Masters)

  •  Top Three Female 60 & Over (Masters)

  •  Clydesdale - Men 200+ lbs

  •  Athena - Women 150+

  •  Fastest Relay team (must be run as a relay at one of the events - not best splits added together afterward)

In case of tie, the winner will be determined by:

1. Head to head total race points
2. Which contestant is older

The overall series winners (both male and female) will receive one bucket of wings and a pitcher of Capital beer from Quaker Steak and Lube in Middleton. Top three overall finishers (male and female) will receive a Timex watch. The first place male and female of each division will receive a bobblehead trophy and the second and third place male and female of each division will receive a medal.

VOLUNTEER POINTS – participants that volunteer as course marshals, boat patrol, lifeguards, or traffic control will earn 50 points per event for up to two events. If you are interested in volunteering for an event please contact Ryan Griessmeyer.
